Eoghan Ó Faoláin, Director, Irish Medtech
Eoghan Ó Faoláin is the Director of Irish Medtech, the Ibec group which represents the medical technology sector. Irish Medtech has more than 250 members, located throughout the island of Ireland. The group's broad focus is to promote and support an environment that encourages the sustainable development and profitable growth of Ireland's FDI and indigenous medtech companies.
Eoghan has over 16 years' experience with Ibec, having previously served as Ibec's Head of Public Sector, supporting hospitals, further & higher education organisations and public sector bodies. Prior to that Eoghan held acting Director and Senior Executive positions in Technology Ireland, the Ibec group representing the technology, software & ICT sectors. Eoghan joined Ibec in 2008 as Regulatory Affairs Executive in Irish Medtech. Prior to joining Ibec, Eoghan successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled 'The use of Raman Spectroscopy for the Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer' at Technological University Dublin. Eoghan alongside colleagues at FOCAS Research Institute, the Radiation and Environmental Science Centre, and collaborators at the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital and the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, embarked on the process of commercialising the technology with support from Enterprise Ireland, resulting in the filing of a worldwide patent of the technology developed.
