Tom Melvin
Tom Melvin, Associate Professor in Medical Device Regulatory Science, University of Galway
Tom Melvin is a medical doctor and senior regulatory expert specializing in the regulation and clinical evaluation of medical devices. Tom is past chair of the Regulatory Affairs Committee of the Biomed Alliance and the Clinical Investigation and Evaluation Working Group.
He was also a member of the IRDiRC Working Group on MedTech for Rare disease, the Medical Device Coordination Group taskforce on orphan devices, and the Developing Child and Orphan Device (DeCODe) project. Tom's work bridges the gap between complex policy and patient-centered innovation, with a focus on improving clinical development pathways to effectively address the unique needs of patient populations.
