Accelerating medical device development with anatomical phantoms and detailed manufacturing aids.
Stuart Hogarth - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, CPI.

Stratasys Breakfast Briefing

Join us to explore the versatility of Digital Anatomy additive manufacturing in medical device development. We will begin by examining the use of rapidly produced detailed manufacturing aids for assembling prototypes that transition seamlessly into the final manufacturing stages. Additionally, we will introduce a biomimetic vagina phantom designed to enhance and expedite the development of new medical devices for vaginal examinations.

This model incorporates a silicone vagina integrated with an additively manufactured pelvic region using the advanced Digital Anatomy materials. The result is a realistic testing and training environment that significantly improves patient comfort and device efficacy. These projects demonstrate the significant potential of additive manufacturing in accelerating medical device development and enhancing patient care.

Speaker
Additive Manufacturing for Volume Production in Medical Devices
Mark Hartnett, Senior Technologist responsible for Additive Manufacturing in Irish Manufacturing Research.

This session will explore the role of Additive Manufacturing in the production of medical devices at medium to high volumes, ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 units per year.

The presentation will cover key considerations, potential challenges, and the opportunities available for companies looking to integrate 3D printing into their manufacturing processes. Mark will provide insights into the practical aspects of this technology, showcasing both the capabilities and limitations of the equipment used at Irish Manufacturing Research, and offering valuable knowledge for those interested in scalable and efficient production methods.
